Fees and Insurance Reimbursement
My fee is $100.00 for a 1 hour to a 1 hour and 15 minute appointment.
Most sessions last one hour and I use the extra 15 minutes for the
paperwork associated with the session. However, since the work I
do is often experiential, I am willing to include the extra 15 minutes
for sessions where more time is needed for proper integration and
closure. Please allow up to an hour and fifteen minutes for your
appointments. If we determine that an hour and a half is needed,
either before or during the session, then the fee will be $120.00.
I offer a couple of ways for those who need to pay less to receive
a discount. A 10% discount is given for cash payments or monthly
advanced payments (Mastercard and Visa are accepted). I am occasionally
willing to go below this amount if it is needed. If these fees pose
a financial strain, please discuss this with me and I will let you
know if I currently have room in my schedule for a sliding scale
fee.
I am willing to fill out insurance paperwork and give it to you
to submit for personal reimbursement. Please call your insurance
company before coming in and find out what the reimbursement rates
are for an “out of network” provider. Generally you
will be reimbursed 40 – 50% within one month of submission.
Be sure to get an approval code when you call and bring in your
insurance card for the paperwork you will need to do on your first
visit. If paying the full amount up front prevents you from being
able to receive therapy, please discuss this with me and I will
let you know if I currently have room in my schedule for an exception.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel an appointment, please give me a 24-hour
notice. Otherwise, I will not have sufficient time to reschedule
your time slot and will have to charge you for it. Payments for
missed appointments are expected to be made within 48 hours of the
missed appointment. Payments can be made by phone with a credit
card, by mail, or by dropping it off at the office in a sealed envelope
with my name on it. If the reason for canceling within less than
24 hours is an unavoidable emergency, I will either waive the fee
or split the cost with you. However, only one unavoidable emergency
will be excused from payment for every 6-month period. While I like
to be supportive of parents this also includes sick children.
Availability
Generally, I ask that clients reserve discussing problems that
arise for them until our scheduled appointment times. I encourage
you to use the tools you will be learning in therapy and to create
a support system to help between appointments. However, if you have
a rare emergency situation, you can call me on my cell/ office phone
at 720-732-4050. I will try to return your call as promptly as possible,
but I do not wear a pager and cannot return phone calls while seeing
clients. Therefore, it may take up to 24 hours before I can return
a call. You will be billed for consultations over the phone at a
rate of 25.00 for 15 minutes. I will inform you ahead of time if
I will be out of town for any significant period of time. If we
feel that it is necessary, I will provide you with the name and
number of another therapist to call in case of an emergency. If
you feel that this level of support may be insufficient for your
needs, please discuss this with me so that we can assess if this
is the right relationship for you.
How Often To Meet & When To End Therapy
It is important to meet once a week for three months. This consistency
is necessary for effecting change in one’s life. Please know
that it is quite natural after a month or so to feel better and
want to end therapy. I ask that you commit now to working through
the entire 3 months so that the foundation you lay in the first
month can become firmly rooted and you can achieve lasting change.
After three months, some find it appropriate to come in less often
(every 2 or 3 weeks), to take a break for a few months, or to end
therapy. I generally trust and support a client’s ability
to know when they have obtained the goals they sought when they
entered therapy. However, the therapeutic relationship has the special
quality of bringing up repetitive relationship dynamics. If worked
through, this can be a very beneficial part of the therapeutic process.
Therefore, if I believe that a client’s termination of therapy
is the perpetuation of a relational pattern, then I will encourage
a discussion of these dynamics before termination takes place. Regardless
of these suggestions, you have the right to seek a second opinion
and to end therapy at any time. When you are planning to end therapy,
I ask that you give me as much notice as possible, so that I can
prioritize the remaining time left and create closure in our relationship.
If your decision to end therapy is a quick one, please allow for
at least one closure session, as this is an important part of the
therapeutic process.
